PHOTOJOURNALISM FORUM – What Matters

World-renowned photojournalist, who has photographed in more than 60 countries, with images published in The New York Times Magazine, Time, National Geographic, and Newsweek along with several World Press Photo awards. Kashi will present his documentary work about the Niger Delta as part of the book What Matters  and in a documentary short video – based on his book Curse of the Black Gold: Fifty Years of Oil in the Niger Delta.

MICHAEL WATTS – Chair of the UC Berkeley Geography Department discusses his commentary in Curse of the Black Gold and the petro-politics that are transforming economies and nations across the globe.

DAVID ELLIOT COHEN – Editor of the best-selling  Day In The Life  and America 24/7  book series and the recent compilation of socially-conscious photo-essays What Matters will comment on the power of the photograph in the world today and the ways that visual literacy shapes our understanding of the essential issues of the 21st Century.
