The January book club selection for Palo Alto Reads our "anyone can join at anytime" book club is The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. This book was originally published for the adults but appears on many high school reading lists because of its themes of loyalty, honor and friendship in the midst of family strife. There is also a lot of humor and of course really fast car racing, and its told from the point of view of a wise dog named Enzo. Check out the book at Garth Stein's website. Email the librarian if you want read the book ASAP. We'll meet on Wednesday, January 27th at lunch in the SSRC. Start the conversation on the book club blog located on InClass under Library Information and Passwords.

In celebration of Black History Month in February the Palo Alto Reads book club will read Black Profiles in Courage by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. This inspiring and engrossing book tells the story of courageous African-Americans from the Age of Discovery to Civil Rights--adventure and history all rolled up in one great anthology! Email the librarian if you'd like a copy of the book. We'll blog using InClass and hold a discussion at the end of February.
