- Learned that the career discussed at career day wasn’t for you? Want to discover possible career interests or college majors better suited to you? Take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program at Paly on Tuesday, December 11th at 3:30 p.m. in room 1708. It’s free of charge. The test is administered by a group associated with the armed services, but no identifying information is released to the military from the test. Gates Millennium Scholars Program- Administered by the United Negro College Fund - African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American seniors with significant financial need. Must be able to demonstrate strong academic performance in mathematics and science courses, involvement in community service and leadership potential and will be attending an accredited college or university. Oglethorpe University Scholarships - Seniors who are interested in attending Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. Numerous renewable scholarships available. Criteria ranges from min. GPA of 3.0 for the Civic Engagement Scholarship to GPA 3.5/SAT 1150/ACT 25 for the James Edward Oglethorpe Scholarship. Candidates must apply to OU by 12/15/2007 to be considered. Awards range in value from $24,000 to $105,000 in academic courses and superior record of leadership in school and community activities. AXA Achievement – Community Scholarship - Seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in school activities, community, or workplace. Program offers up to $1.3 million in scholarships awarded at the national and state levels.
