General:

  1. Bus passes for January will be available to pick up on Thursday in the Attendance Office. (Larson)
  2. If you plan to work during the holiday, all work permit requests must be filled out correctly and turned in by Dec. 19 at lunchtime in order to be processed. Permits will be mailed to your employer. (Gyves)
  3. Remember James Franco's visit and his presentation about his current project?  DON'T forget to submit those short stories ASAP. Give them to your English teacher or see Mrs. Paugh in Room 219 if you need more details.   (Paugh)

Clubs and Meetings:

  1. Math Club meets at lunch today in room 704. (Nangia)
  2. Science Olympiad/Bowl meets tomorrow at lunch in room 1701. (Csongradi)
  3. Plan ahead. Work Experience meets tomorrow at 3:05 in room 309 or at Gunn in L-7 at 6 pm. There will be a gust speaker so be on time. (Gyves)

Athletics:
All girls interested in playing softball this season must attend an informational meeting tomorrow at lunch in the Big Gym. Contact Coach Halas in room 23 of the Tower Bldg. (Halas)

Scholarships:
Kenyon College – Trustee Opportunity Travel Grant - Juniors and Seniors of first generation and other underrepresented students interested in visiting Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. Grant provides financial travel assistance to students from underrepresented backgrounds to determine if Kenyon College is a good fit for them. Applicant must provide copy of recent transcript. Johnson & Wales University – Chancellor’s Scholarship - Seniors who are interested in attending Johnson & Wales University. Renewable scholarships ranging in value from $7500 to Full Tuition for undergrad applicants accepted into the J&W U Honor’s Program. Elita Hawley Central California AFS Endowment Fund - Students interested in spending a semester studying abroad. Foundation awards $30,000 to applicants selected from Central California. Toyota Community Scholars Program - Seniors with 3.0 GPA or better, planning to attend a 4-year college: Must have initiated or be actively involved in a service program that addresses a school or community need. Students who fit this profile should contact Ms. Cernobori in the College Center to learn about the nomination process. One hundred renewable $10,000 and $20,000 Scholarships will be awarded. Colby College – The Ralph J. Bunche Scholars Program - High School Seniors who are African-American, Latino/a, Asian, or Native-American, U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Nominations should include specific info on quality of academic performance, personal; activities, and other accomplishments. Boston University Presidential Scholars Program - Seniors who are interested in attending Boston University. Merit-based renewable scholarships for full tuition for four years undergraduate study. Elks National Foundation Scholarships - Most Valuable Student Palo Alto Lodge - Seniors who are U.S. citizens: Financial need, leadership and scholarship are the criteria. Generally students who qualify for final consideration are in top 5% of their class. Various criteria depending upon scholarship. 500 four-year scholarships will be awarded in nation-wide competition. $1,000-$15,000/year. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority – San Jose Alumnae Chapter - African-American Seniors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 planning to attend an accredited two or four year college or university.
