General:
- Hand in your textbooks to your teachers if you just completed a one-semester-only class / Otherwise your name will appear on the Book Bill List. (Eymil)
- Girls please support the Princess Project! This organization takes new or gently used prom dresses and gives them to girls who could not otherwise afford them. Bring your donations to Ms. Shultz and she’ll get them to the right people. If you need a dress let her know. (Shultz)
- The new semester is a good time to put things right. If you don’t know your Paly student log-in you can go the Library Lab at lunch or brunch to get it. Also, remember, you should NOT share your login or password with anyone. (Merritt)
Athletics:
Come to the track today at 3:15 to sign up for Track and Field. Meet the coaches, and fill out paperwork. First day of practice is Thursday. (Billing)
College and Career:
- San Jose State will stop accepting freshman applications Friday, February 15th. Students who aren't happy with their acceptance options in April will not be able to apply to SJSU at that time. So, if you're thinking you might still want to apply to SJSU, do so via CSU Mentor soon. (Cernobori)
- There will be a presentation on Summer Opportunities and Use of Free Time tomorrow at Gunn in the Library at 7 pm. (Cernobori)

Princeton University – The Princeton Prize in Race Relations - High school students in grades 9-12 who are actively and extensively involved in activities to improve racial relations at school or in the community. Application is two part: Part I for applicant and Part II for student’s sponsor who can be any adult who is familiar with the student’s qualifying activity. For 2007, the Princeton Prize will be awarded in 19 regional areas including San Francisco. First Prize in each area of $1000 which may be shared with one other recipient. Furman Scholars Program - High School Juniors interested in attending Furman University with consideration given to historically underrepresented ethnic groups. Up to four (4) juniors may be nominated by each high school. Candidates should have an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher or weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher, be in the top five percent of their class, and have a PSAT score of 135 or higher, SAT score of 1350 (critical reading and math only), or ACT Composite score of 30 or higher, and have a strong interest in a liberal arts and sciences education. Furman Scholars that are accepted will receive a merit scholarship of at least $5000, renewable yearly by maintaining a 3.0 GPA. DEADLINE: 02/01/2008
Northern California Scholarship Foundation - College Bound Seniors in Northern and Central California. Applicant and parents must be U.S. citizens and in definite need of financial assistance. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA, show a deep-rooted sense of scholarship and leadership capabilities. One recommendation/nomination per school. Scholarship award is $7,000/year and is renewable. Candidates must supply confidential statement from parent or guardian, a copy of the 1st page of your family’s most recent income tax return, a high school transcript with Fall 2007 grades, a recent unframed photograph, and the results of any SAT or ACT exam taken in the last 12 months. UC Davis- Cal Aggie Alumni Association Leadership Scholarship - Seniors who are interested in attending UC Davis. Submit UC application by 11/30/2007 and select box indicating you are applying for the CAAA Leadership scholarship. The CAAA awards leadership-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to incoming UC Davis freshmen and transfer students. University of Colorado Boulder – Presidents Leadership Class, Inc. - Seniors interested in attending Univ. of Colorado @ Boulder and pursuing a rigorous, leadership-focused undergraduate program. Sixty merit-based, renewable scholarships are awarded to a pool of 120 in-state and 40 out-of-state applicants selected for interview by the scholarship committee.
