Advisory:
Remember tomorrow is a NON-Block day (period 1-7 per.) Friday is a “Wednesday” block-day schedule (1,3,5,7 period) with Advisory at 9:50. During Advisory FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES will meet with TA’s and ALL JUNIORS will meet in the theater. (Deggelman)
General:
- AP exam registration opens Feb. 1 and continues through March 7. Each exam costs $110, payable at the Auditor’s or online at the Paly webstore. (Shepard)
- There will be a Black History Pan-African Flag raising celebration this Friday on the Quad. All are welcome. Did you know it was on this date in 1926 that historian Carter G. Woodson initiated the first Negro History Week. In 1976 it was expanded to a month. (Hernandez)
- All students who took English last semester. Please return your textbooks to the book-drop in the English Dept. We are waiting on some of these books for 2nd semester classes. Please note that there are consequences if you do not turn them in. (Klein)
- Attention Seniors, if you had Ms. Shaw for 9th-grade English, please come to P6 at the beginning of lunch this week to pick up an important letter. (Shaw)
- Please check the library overdue and fine list, and if your name is on it pay the fine immediately! The lists are posted in the Tower Building and on the entrance doors to the Library. (Henry)
College and Career:
- If you’re interested in finding out about Gap Year programs, there will be a panel of agencies here tonight at 7 pm in the ERC. (Erber)
- Check the Job File at the Work Experience Desk for the winter schedule for the Medical Explorer’s post lecture series. Next lecture, Career as a Physician Assistant, is Feb. 8 at PAMF, 7 pm. (Gyves)
- Juniors, interested in being considered for a job in Astrophysics at Lockheed-Martin Corp, Apps are available at the Work Experience desk. Must have a GPA of 3.5+. See Mrs. Gyves for details. (Gyves)
- Off Campus Opportunities:
- Cal State East Bay, Chabot College, and the Alameda County Office of Education host Education Summit 2010: Closing the Achievement Gap for African American and Latino Youth on Feb. 20 at Cal State East Bay's Campus from 8 am - 12:40 pm.. - Juniors, in preparation for the Junior advisory on Friday with renowned college admissions expert Lloyd Thacker, you got an email via Naviance to complete a 3 question survey prior to the event. Seniors, there is a 4-question survey for you too. Please log in to Naviance, then select the "About Me" tab, and click on the "LThacker questions" hyperlink from the left-side navigation panel.
