Parking Regualtions
Parking on campus is a privilege and requires compliance with all parking and traffic regulations.All vehicles must visibly display a Palo Alto High School (PAHS) or PAUSD parking permit (seeregulations below). Failure to properly display a permit will be cause for a parking citation to beissued by the Palo Alto Police Department PAPD. All vehicles must park within a designatedmarked parking stall. Vehicles must park between signs and may not block any part of theroadway or lot.
** All provisions of the California Vehicle Code pertaining to parked vehicles will apply and maybe enforced on PAHS grounds unless specified otherwise. Parking regulations will be enforcedMonday thru Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm .
Parking Permits
Student Permits:
Students that drive to school are required to purchase and display a PAHS student permit. (Seeprocedure for purchase of permits on next page.) This permit must be hung from the front of therearview mirror. It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that the permit is visible from theoutside. Vehicles displaying a student permit may only park in student designated parking areas.They may not park in Staff, Carpool or Visitor areas, nor may they park in red zones, fire lanes orin a disabled stall without a proper disabled placard. Students parked in an area other thandesignated or student-only parking areas could be issued a citation by the PAPD.
Carpool Permits:
Students that carpool to school are required to purchase and display a PAHS carpool permit. This permit must be hung from the front of the rearview mirror. It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that the permit is visible from the outside. Vehicles displaying carpool permits may park in designated Carpool and/or Student areas only. They may not park in Visitor or Staff areas, red zones, fire lanes or in a disabled stall without a proper disabled placard. Students parked in the carpool designated areas without a proper permit, or parked in an area other than designated or student-only parking areas, could be issued a citation by the PAPD.
Staff Permits:
Staff personnel will be required to display a PAHS or a PAUSD permit which must be hung fromthe front of the rearview mirror and visible from the outside of the vehicle. It is the responsibilityof the driver to ensure that the permit is visible from the outside. Vehicles displaying a staffpermit may park in Staff or Student areas and may not park in Visitor or Carpool areas. They maynot park in Visitor or Carpool areas, red zones, fire lanes, or in a disabled stall without a properdisabled placard.
Visitor permits:
Parents, volunteers, and other visitors to the campus must use the 20-minute visitor parking stalls.If more than 20 minutes will be needed, a daily/temporary permit must be obtained at the FrontOffice. The daily/temporary visitor permit must be placed on the front dashboard, and theexpiration date must be clear and visible. Visitors may park in the Visitor or Student areas only.Under certain circumstances, students may obtain daily/temporary permits. Students withtemporary permits may only park in designated student-only lots. Vehicles with daily/temporarypermits may not park in Staff or Carpool areas, red zones, fire lanes, or in a disabled stall withouta proper disabled placard.
Procedure for Purchase of 2005-2006 PAHS STUDENT PARKING PERMITS
Permits will be sold to Juniors and Seniors only, in the fall of 2005, beginning at registration until they are sold out. During the schoolyear, permits will be sold at the ASB Accounts Clerk office. To obtain a permit you must bring the following items to registration:
- Completed form, including vehicle & insurance information, and all necessary signatures
- Student’s Driver License
- A check for the appropriate amount, payable to Palo Alto High School/ASB
Individual Student permits will cost $100. Please familiarize yourself with Student Parking Regulations, and park only where permitted.
Carpool permits will cost $60 and will be issued to student drivers who commit to driving at least two additional students to school five (5) times a week, and have had their license for more than six months. Carpool parking spaces are available for students with valid carpool permits that have arrived at school with the driver and at least two other passengers on that particular day. Please familiarize yourself with Carpool Parking Regulations and park only where permitted.
False information on a permit application will result in revocation of the parking permit and disciplinary action by the school.
Important Information:
- Only park in a disabled stall, or any part of it, if you have a current, valid disabled placardor license plate. Vehicles blocking or parked in disabled stalls without a visible, properlydisplayed disabled placard or license plate will be cited.
- There is absolutely no parking allowed in designated fire lanes and red zones. Vehiclesparked in fire lanes or red zones will be cited and may be subject to towing.
- Vehicles must park within a designated marked parking stall/space. Vehicles parkedoutside of a designated parking stall/space or taking up more than one parking space will be cited.
- All parking citations must be paid to the City of Palo Alto Revenue Collections Department. To contest or appeal a citation, follow the directions on the reverse side of the citation or call Revenue Collections at (650) 329-2252. If you need further assistance please call (650) 329-2411.
- PAHS is not responsible for fire, theft, vandalism, or damage to any vehicle in the PAHS parking lots.
- Any lost, stolen or damaged parking permits will be replaced by the owner of the permit, not by PAHS or PAPD.
- Parking permits will remain the property of PAHS. They are issued for the sole use of the purchaser and may not be sold or given to another student.
- Permits are only transferable between vehicles listed on the application.
- Help PAHS maintain good relations with our neighbors. Do not park at Town & Country or in the Southgate residential neighborhood.
