COURSE DESCRIPTION
We are proposing a pilot program at Palo Alto High
School in networking technology. This course could offer student
certification in a high demand career field. The course would
have a student centered curriculum allowing hands on experiences
with Novell and other network software. Installation and maintenance
of local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN) systems
will be taught. Group dynamics are stressed in all areas related
to current networking applications listed below. The students
will gain experiences in individual PC and server applications
as well as experiences in network administration and maintenance.
The following curriculum areas are represented:
One of the major goals of the program is to provide the students
with relevant network applications through various mentorship
and intern programs. To do this we would establish working relationships
with local companies like Digital, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Apple,
and Novell. The overall goal would be to give students the knowledge
to qualify for CNA certification.
