Coach's Take

When we first met Brian two years ago, all we remember is that the team
didn’t really know how to pronounce his last name, and that his 5:07
sophomore mile time had his new classmates feeling slightly unnerved and
competitive. Since then, the whole team has come to know and love Brian's
extraordinary personality and work ethic and has been the beneficiary of
an incredible amount of wise training advice.

With the exception of a few impressive XC races (running Lowell varsity as
a sophomore, Gunn, etc) and a handful of two-miles, many of Brian's
seasons have unfortunately been derailed by injury. That hasn't stopped
Brian from swimming, biking and jogging his way back into amazing
physical shape.

In the meantime, Brian's been a mentor and guide to his younger teammates and
taken on some of the leadership responsibilities of the team. Judging from
his stellar times when he has run, look for Brian to challenge for one of
the top 5 varsity spots this season, proving that this mild-mannered
running guru can gun it when healthy.
