Two things jump off the page when you look at Brian's running career: 1) the number of seasons in which he hasn't run, and 2) that excellent freshman mile time.
The first is explained by his focus on basketball as a 4-year varsity player for a perennial contender.
The other is due to his immense natural talent as a runner. In his first full season of track as a junior, Brian made tremendous improvements and broke 4:50 for the first time at the League meet. Now that he's finally decided to run XC, Brian should be due for a big year.
As one of the team's fastest milers in 2007, he will be a "wild card" for the Varsity squad: a guy who's never run XC but is capable of making key contributions and even scoring at the big end of season meets. |
