| Coach's Take |
Willie has managed to fight through injuries to improve every year of his running career. As a freshman, he was the top runner of this year's senior class but unfortunately his season was cut short at Toro Park where he broke his foot (but still medaled!). He didn't run that track season and then as a sophomore made Varsity in XC, going sub-18 at Crystal.
His junior XC season was wrecked by injuries, but he bounced back strongly in track. In fact, it was the first season he's had thus far without any major injury problems, and his incredible improvement in the 400 showed just how much that helped.
Now that he's turned the corner with his health issues, we can expect Willie to make a strong run for a Varsity spot this season once he returns from biking all the way across America. His dedication is never in question and we know Willie will be ready to make his senior XC season his best yet. |
