| Coach's Take |
Alex's career at Paly has had plenty of great moments, but he's had a tough time finding consistency due to injuries. The one season he stayed healthy was his freshman track season, and the times he put up reflect his true potential. A 4:47 is the second fastest freshman mile run at Paly in recent years, only behind MacQuitty's nation-leading performance.
Last season Alex had a great race at Woodward Park during the team's trip to Fresno, but then came down with the whooping cough. He was still suffering its ill effects at the season's end, but managed to run a strong time at Crystal Springs - a true testament to his toughness.
His recent track season was similarly tumultuous, and Alex, a famed busy-body, is now gone all summer hiking, juggling, and doing who-knows-what-else. Its hard to know what to expect from Alex for this season, but if he healthy, he could definitely be a factor for the varsity squad and could challenge the 17:00 mark at Crystal. |
