Somewhat overshadowed by Philip's performances during XC, we don't think Ben realized quite how good of a freshman season he had. If you take a look at our historical times at the Gunn course, you'll notice that Ben's 12:07 is the third fastest Paly freshman time run there in the last 10 years - only behind MacQuitty and Avis, and faster than a few of our alumni who are now running very successfully in college.
Ben had a tremendous XC season as a freshman, capped by his 7th place finish in the Frosh/Soph race at the League meet. He quickly emerged as one of the team's best underclassmen and has impressed us all with his work ethic, his dedication, and the seriousness with which he takes the sport.
Ben also had a solid track season, but XC with its hills and longer courses might be his true strength. He should be one of the leaders of the Frosh/Soph team throughout the season - a team that could bring home some serious hardware. And when November rolls around the older guys better watch out, if things go really well its not out of the question for him to challenge for a spot in the top 7.
