Coach's Take

If I was going to give an award for the athlete who improved the most from XC to track, Andrew would battle fellow sophomore Conor Ney for the award. During the XC season he ran a 6:18 mile. After the track season was over he ran in a time trial and popped a 5:33!!!! Wow.

He also ran a *very* impressive string of 3200's, with his best time being 12:17 - just over 6 minute pace for 2 miles.

Since the end of track season he took a little break, but then got right back to his training and has been a consistent attendee to summer practices. Look for him to challenge the 13:00 mark at Gunn and the 19:00 mark at Crystal, morphing himself from a back-of-the-pack runner to someone who could contribute to the Frosh/Soph team as a scoring member.

In my 3 years of coaching I've seen plenty of athletes turn themselves into great runners as a result of consistent hard work, and Andrew Stober might very well be the next name that we get to tell stories about.
