2026 AP Exam Registration Information

AP exams are offered for subjects taught in our AP program at PALY. For alternative exam locations visit the College Board website for any exam PALY does not offer.

Please note that due to space constraints, Palo Alto High School will only be accepting registration from Paly, Gunn, and PAUSD Middle College students.

All registrations and payments are processed through Total Registration.

Register for 2026 AP Exams

Students must register with both Total Registration AND the College Board. Students enrolled in an AP class at Paly should have signed up already with the College Board during class. Students must sign up with the College Board AND Total Registration. Students should use the same email address for both sites.

Students NOT Enrolled in an AP Class at Paly: Students interested in taking an AP exam that are not enrolled in the class must first sign up with Total Registration. Sign up for the exam with the “No Teacher” option and get the join code. Next, sign up on College Board with the join code from Total Registration; the course will be listed as “Exam Only.”

Capacity & Staffing Limitations: Due to capacity limitations, some students can expect to test during late testing. Late Tests will be administered May 18-22. You will be notified of your testing date.

AP Refund Policy: Students may receive a full refund if requested by November 7th, 2025. Student may receive a partial refund (minus a $42 cancellation fee) if requested between November 8th, 2025 and May 1st, 2026. Refunds are processed through Total Registration. There are no refunds after May 1st, 2026.

Fri. May 9 ART AND DESIGN — AP 2-D Art and Design, 3D Art and Design, and Drawing: Last day for coordinators to submit digital portfolios (by 8 p.m. ET) and to gather 2-D Art and Design and Drawing students for physical portfolio assembly. Teachers should have forwarded students’ completed digital Art and Design portfolios to coordinators before this date.

You cannot take two tests at the same time; PALY will decide which test you will take first. For example, Chinese Language & Culture and Environment Science. You will take one of them as a “Late Test.” Late Tests will be administered May 18-22. No extra fee is charged for schedule conflicts. Certain conflicts will incur a $42 late testing exam fee. Free or Reduced Fees: Students who have a verifiable financial need are eligible for reduced fees. To apply, please use this link.

Testing with Accommodations: January 18th is the final day to submit a request for testing accommodations to the College Board. Work with your Counselor or Case Manager to submit a request, if necessary. If you are already approved by the College Board for accommodations, you do not need to refile. Please note that the request process can take seven weeks and does not begin until all required documentation is received.
