1. What is Paly’s Student Wellness Program?
Paly’s Student Wellness Program is a three-tiered program that involves the Paly Wellness Center & Therapists, School Health Technician, and our new Tower Learning Center.
2. What is the purpose of Paly’s Student Wellness Program?
Paly hopes to address the byproducts of being a student in a rigorous, high-pressure environment by providing support systems focusing on mental health and wellness (Wellness Center, Student and Family Engagement), physical wellness (Health Program), and academic wellness (Tower Learning Center, Student and Family Engagement).
3. What do you mean by an “intentional” environment?
The TLC hopes to give students a space to grow introspectively, developing healthy work habits and discovering who they are as learners. Students will work with tutors to set and achieve short-term goals, develop skills for learning and self-reflection, and use their time productively within the session, ultimately straying away from the habit of using resources just to complete a homework assignment or study for a test the day before.
The ideals of the Paly ARC (Academic Resource Center) and Peer Tutoring Center help us lay out the groundwork for our tutoring component. However, we hope to build upon this foundation, adding additional elements, such as mentoring, multi-week goal and progress monitoring, and skill-building.
We want to make the TLC a beneficial resource to everyone in the Paly community including, but not limited to, our students, parents, teachers, counselors, Wellness staff, and coaches to help support our students and address their diverse needs.
